Troubleshooting: Outlook 2007 Slow Synchronization
Some may experience an issue within Outlook 2007 that causes sending and receiving of emails to be extremely slow. This may also be accompanied by messages being stuck in the Outbox and not reaching the recipient.
The most effective way to go about fixing this is to create a new profile and import all email, contacts, tasks, etc.
First, locate your .pst file (usually found within your user profile).
Next, open up the Control Panel and select 'Mail'.
Select the 'Show Profiles' button along the bottom of the dialog.
Select 'Add' and type a name for the new profile.
*Most will want to select the option 'Always use this profile' and select the new profile from the drop down list.
Open Outlook and you should see a brand new, empty profile.
From the 'File' menu, select 'Import and Export'.
From the list, select 'Import from another program or file'.
The next screen will present you with different file type options. Select, 'Personal Folder File (.pst)'.
Locate the .pst file from earlier and import.
*By default 'Replace duplicates with items imported' is selected. However, there are two other options for allowing and discarding duplicates.
Be sure to delete any stuck items from your Outbox.
